Our research community consists of our collaborating partners at Cardiff University and a network of supporting partners across Cardiff University and beyond. We are connected to over 30 universities from across the UK through the National Institute for Health and Social Care’s HDRC network, and draw on academic topic-specific expertise from academics across international institutions. Through our collaborating partner, the Wales Centre for public Policy, we are connected with the What Works Network (external link) (a group of centers using evidence to improve the design and delivery of public services) and the Universities Policy Engagement Network.
Cardiff University Collaborating Partners
Wales Centre for Public Policy
The Wales Centre for Public Policy (external link) (WCPP), based at Cardiff University has developed an award-winning, demand-led approach to mobilising research evidence.
Funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and Welsh Government, the centre collaborates with leading policy experts to provide ministers, the civil service and public services with rigorous, relevant, and timely evidence to improve policy decisions and outcomes.
WCPP has a proven track record of co-producing research evidence with local authorities and other public services.
Centre for the Development Evaluation Complexity and Implementation in Public Health Improvement
The Centre for the Development Evaluation Complexity and Implementation in Public Health Improvement (external link) (DECIPHer) in Cardiff University is a Public Health Research Centre of Excellence.
DECIPHer brings together leading experts from a range of disciplines to tackle public health issues such as mental health and wellbeing, positive social relationships, diet and nutrition, physical activity and tobacco, alcohol and drugs, with a particular focus on developing and evaluating multi-level system approaches that will have an impact on the health and wellbeing of children and young people. DECIPHer is funded by the Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales.
DECIPHer successfully developed several high impact Public Health Improvement Networks and short courses, which facilitate Research Development Groups to co-produce research studies, secure research funding, and translate evidence to improve health and wellbeing while reducing inequalities, e.g. The School Health Research Network (SHRN) (14). DECIPHer will provide capacity building training.
