Residents invited to share their views in new ‘Voice It!’ events across RCT

Residents across Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) are being invited to take part in a new series of community events designed to give them a stronger voice in shaping local services.

‘Voice It!’, led by the RCT Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) and delivered by the Community Voice Team in partnership with Interlink, will bring conversations directly into communities through a mix of informal pop-up engagement sessions at local community venues and RCT community events.

Our Community Voice Team: Matt, Kim, Deb & Laura

The initiative aims to create safe, welcoming spaces where people can share their experiences and views on what affects health and wellbeing in their communities – starting with a particular focus on improving access to council services.

This first series of family friendly events will explore how residents currently contact the Council, their experiences of doing so, and what they would like to see improved - helping to shape a more “equitable front door” for council services.

Listening to what matters

Voice It! is built on a simple principle: conversations matter.

The campaign champions inclusivity and co-production, ensuring that local voices are not only heard but actively used to inform research, council decision-making, and service design.

There’s no need to fill out forms or prepare anything – residents can simply drop by, have a conversation, and take part in creative activities. These events are welcome to all ages and all individuals who may live, work or play in RCT.

Activities for all ages

The events will include a range of relaxed, creative activities designed to encourage conversation and play, including:

  • Pyrography (wood burning)
  • Pebble painting
  • Seed planting

Light refreshments will be provided, and families are welcome.

Get involved and win

Visitors who sign up to the mailing list at an event will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 voucher, helping them stay connected to future opportunities to get involved.

Making a change together

Insights gathered through Voice It! will feed directly into HDRC projects and council work, with follow-up activity led by the Community Voice Team to ensure ongoing dialogue and impact.

A key part of the campaign is closing the loop - showing communities “You said, we heard” and demonstrating how their voices are shaping real change.

If you live in Rhondda Cynon Taf, you can also get involved by completing our online survey. Local community organisations can also support their services users to take part and can apply to our 'Access to Services' opportunity to receive payment for their time.
